The vineyards face southeast from a 650 foot elevation and have sweeping views of Oregon’s wine rich Willamette Valley. Initially in 2003, eight acres of Pommard grapes were planted on Jory and Nekia soils. We also planted two more acres of Pinot clones (115 & 777), on rootstock (101-14). Early harvests provided grapes for King Estate, Erath and Evesham Wood. Also in 2003, Cubanisimo started producing estate wines with 540 cases produced. In 2004 we had 440 cases, and from now on our production will be approximately 1000 cases per year.
Extracting the finest elements nature will yield from the grapes and the terroir are at the heart of Cubanisimo’s winemaking philosophy. We feel the fine balance of stress and nurture achieved by the 5 x 7 foot spacing and the absence of irrigation will add complexity and depth of flavor to our Pinot Noir. Future production of Pinot Gris expected in 2007. We are adding a tasting room at the winery to complete the
Cubanisimo dream for years to come.
