Our Cubanisimo Vineyards Tasting Room had the privilege of being the chosen location for Wade Cooley, now an official Amigo de Cubanisimo Wine Club Member, to pop the question to his special lady Kathy Klemm. Wade let us in on his plans ahead of time, so we had time to stash a bottle of sparkling wine (Segura Viudas Brut Reserva is our Cava of choice) in the tasting room to help make it special.

It was a beautiful day for such a special question, and we were thrilled to be chosen and remembered as a part of their moment.

Here’s what the Groom to be had to say afterwards:

Thank you for all that you did for our special day. Kathy Klemm and I dated in 1993 when I first got divorce with my three boys. I left Salem 13 years ago with my boys when I took a new job in Spokane as a Orthopedic sales rep and left Kathy behind. 2 years ago I heard she was single and knew that my bestfriend was now available to maybe be my wife which I wanted 13 years ago. Today is the start of the rest of our lives together. Thank you Maurice and Debra for making it special. We will be back. P.S, Briana is very special and a great host.

Wade Cooley

Thanks to all the Amigo wine club members, family and friends who made it to the party in their fabulous costumes, and thank you for participating in our raffle. We had some really great costumes this year.

Here’s the democratically elected winner our our “scariest costume” prize, one of our wine club members, dressed as a classy, but quite dangerous looking vampire.

And the winner of our “Sexiest Costume” prize was the lovely silver lady. While it was clear that her costume was the most attractive, there was some unrest in deciding what she was actually dressed as. It was narrowed down to either a Fem-Bot from Austin Powers, or the Lady Martian from Mars Attacks.

The winner of the funniest costume came as the Cuban mechanic Mauricio, sporting the traditional jumpsuit and cigar. The finishing touch: Mauricio was on the name tag of the jumpsuit.

The last, but definitely not least costume award went out the most original costume of the night, the latest and craziest tabloid icon “Octomom,” complete with her 8 little babies and terrible red lipstick.

There were several honorable mentions that entered the race late, and while they had a good showing, they didn’t have a chance to pull ahead. If you’re not already a club member, be sure sign up to become an Amigo and come to the party next year, but for now, enjoy the rest of the photos below!

We welcomed them and appreciated their adventurous riding through the wine region! Bikes are always welcome at Cubanisimo Vineyards (so long as you watch your wheels through the gravel parking area).

The final day of our Labor day weekend celebration went wonderfully. It was a beautiful day with some close friends and fans. Phamous Phaces got everybody moving on the dance floor, and many people stayed well past closing. We were glad to stick around and let people soak in an outstanding ending to a fun weekend.

All of us at Cubanisimo wanted to say thanks to everyone who shared their Labor day weekend with us. It was truly an incredible weekend!

After writing our eager blog post that morning, the rain intensified for a little bit. To be honest, it was only REALLY wet for about 30 minutes. However, in those 30 minutes we had some serious doubts.

I’m glad to say, though, that those doubts were swept away by a light wind that brought us plenty of sun yesterday. Saturday was a great Oregon day, with a little gloom and a LOT of spice. Mauricio got on the mic with Conjunto Alegré for one song, Salsa Victoria guided a large group in Salsa instruction, and everyone enjoyed great wine and delicious food. It was an excellent day for Cubanisimo and our friends. Which brings us to today, the last day of our Labor Day weekend celebration.

Today (Monday), we’re pulling all the stops! We will be tasting 5 of our award winning wines, cooking up some tasty Tapas plates (croquetas…yum), jamming to Phamous Phaces, and raffling off one more Magnum of 2007 Pinot Noir!

The weatherman promised us a beautiful day, and so far it’s looking sunny, so come join Cubanisimo Vineyards for our final day of the Labor Day weekend celebration! Stop by for the Pinot, stay for the fun.
